Egyptian Diffuser

This replica of an Egyptian oil diffuser from 1500 BC does a wonderful job of impregnating a room with a subtle aroma. Just fill the ceramic vessel with your favorite essential oil and the aroma keeps coming for many, many months. There is no electrical connection and no need to worry about open flames, as in conventional candle or electric diffusers. Most modern diffusers put out a very strong odor at first and then gradually fade. But this ancient device puts out a consistent level of fresh aroma. The Egyptians modeled the shape of this diffuser on the ubiquitous lotus flower, which can be seen in many of their drawings and relief sculptures to this day. This is handmade ceramic vessel, high-fired twice for lasting strength and durability. The bottom is completely glazed to contain the oil and the top “flower” is porous bisqued clay that pulls the oil from the bottom in a natural osmotic process.
